Depending on the season, guests may witness the full journey of the king of fruits unfold right before their eyes, from flowering on the branches, to young durians slowly forming, and all the way to harvest season when fresh durians naturally fall from the trees.

Every tree is carefully nurtured because each one plays a part in our living ecosystem, and we ensure that every durian tree receives the care it needs to thrive. Durian Trees Need More Care Than You Think
Many people assume durian trees grow effortlessly once planted. In reality, every healthy durian tree is the result of years of patience, care, and continuous learning.
A durian tree can take up to 10 years to fully mature and bear fruit, depending on its variety and growing conditions. Our orchard is home to a wide selection of premium and local varieties, including Musang King, D24, Blackthorn, IOI, Udang Merah, and Kampung durian, each with its own unique character, flavour profile, and growing needs.
Even after the trees begin producing fruit, regular care is still required to maintain their health and productivity.
At Beacon Resort, we believe that great durians start with healthy trees. The better we care for each tree, the better the flavour, texture, and quality of the fruit it produces.
Like all living plants, durian trees face challenges such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies. That is why we focus on early care and prevention, giving every tree the best chance to thrive. One of the most important lessons we have learned is that healthy trees begin with healthy soil.
Restoring Our Trees Naturally
When a durian tree shows signs of stress or declining health, we do not wait until the condition becomes severe. Instead, we look beneath the surface because healthy roots begin with healthy soil.
Our team carefully works around the outer root zone of the tree, removes the old soil, and replaces it with fresh organic material. This improves soil structure, encourages stronger root growth, and creates a healthier environment for nutrient absorption.
To further enrich the soil, we use 100% Organic Plant-Based Bio Compost. Rich in beneficial microorganisms, this plant-based compost enhances the soil microbiome, which helps suppress harmful soil-borne pathogens and improves natural nutrient cycling, leading to better long-term soil fertility.
Maintaining the right soil pH is also essential in caring for our orchard. Durian trees thrive in slightly acidic soil, ideally between pH 5.0 and 6.5. When the soil becomes too acidic (below pH 5.0), it becomes harder for trees to absorb essential nutrients. By improving the soil naturally, we create a balanced environment where our durian trees can continue to grow strong and healthy.
While many farms rely on animal-based fertilisers like chicken manure, which can introduce unwanted pathogens and heavy metals into the soil, we prefer a 100% plant-based compost as part of our commitment to sustainable farming. This choice guarantees a clean, pure, and odour-free environment, ensuring that the ground our guests walk on is as pristine as the air they breathe. By nourishing the soil naturally, it supports beneficial microbes and significantly improves soil structure.
In the end, this care is reflected in what we serve. Healthier trees produce better quality fruit, so when our guests enjoy durians here, they are tasting fruit grown within a naturally balanced and well-cared-for ecosystem.
